National Birthday, Dragon Tails, and Trout
Brown mustard is amazing, but yellow mustard is amazing too
Happy Tuesday!
How has your week been? How was your Fourth of July? It was a beautiful, sunny day at the Castle, really the perfect weather for grilling. I put out some tiny American flags (I don’t have a flagpole, or one of those brackets that stick to the side of your house, although I would really like either one) and ate some delicious Bratwurst and potato salad. Hot dogs are tasty, don’t get me wrong; but lately I’ve preferred Bratwurst, in a bun, with a nice amount of yellow mustard. It’s so good, and I’m glad that tonight’s dinner is leftovers! Happy birthday, America!
WIP Update
Between watching fireworks, eating delicious food, and celebrating the birthday of my country (busy day!) I still managed to get some cross stitch in. Let’s see what I accomplished this past week.
First up is Paris Market:
Super happy with my progress! I’ve covered quite a bit of ground this time, and as you probably noticed, I’ve switched from the 10 x 10 method to just stitching like crazy. There’s a lot of color changes between green, red, and white at the bottom, but a nice blend of browns and creams in half stitches at the top of the flowers. That makes a nice amount of variety, so I don’t see myself getting tired of one color anytime soon. It was a real treat to stitch that yellow, let me tell you!
In other news, Medieval Menagerie has had some exciting stuff happening too:
The last dragon has a tail! Mind you, there is a mistake somewhere, but since it’s not immediately noticeable (unless, of course, someone is standing in front of it one day with the chart in their hand saying, “Aha! There’s a mistake right there! In the tail!” which I don’t foresee happening) I’m not going to change it. So the tail is done! Once the flowers on the far right are completed, I’ll start working on the next band.
This page finish is so close I can almost taste it…
Odds & Ends
Substack has added some really cool features recently, so let’s try out one of them right now. Here’s a poll. It’s a tough choice!
