Jams and jellies are happy foods. Everything about them is pure joy. More often than not, their sweet presence on a shelf or table is not only in their taste, but also in their pretty jars as well. They can have a checkerboard print on their lids, a simple label that says, “I am jam and this is my flavor”, or a fancy label that seems to imply that they came from France. I’ve seen small, squat jars with a diamond pattern, and big jars for when you know that you'll eat your weight in that particular flavor. When you buy a jam with an eye-catching jar, you can pat yourself on the back, because you’re not only buying a tasty spread, but also adding a new drinking glass to your pantry or adding to your vase collection.
While I don’t make my jam, I admire those who do, like
who not only makes delicious food, but also takes delicious-looking pictures:Currently, I have a fondness for fig jam. Bonne Maman is very good. Here’s a great breakfast: fig jam on toast with a schmear of butter and a nice, boiled egg with plenty of salt and pepper.
As far as a tasty snack goes, jalapeño pepper jelly on a Saltine with cream cheese is perfect. I don’t mind it with a Ritz cracker, but I prefer it with a Saltine, because they can stand up to the cream cheese and the jelly much better than a flaky Ritz cracker can.
WIP Update
Since my last update, I decided to change direction. I intended to keep working on the far-left side, but I realized that in order to do that, I would have to move my Q-Snap. Having just achieved chef’s kiss tension and making the fabric as wobbly free as possible, I was very hesitant to do this. So instead, I decided to just stitch as much as I can reach before moving it. I still had some stitches at the top that needed filling in, so I did that before flipping the chart over and making that chunk of green progress that you can see on the bottom right-hand side. It stitched up very quickly! A lot of it was a solid 10 x 10 block of dark green. For some bizarre reason, I stopped doing 10 x 10 blocks for a moment and just kept stitching away. After becoming lost in my pattern and looking like this meme:
I figured out where I was and will now be maniacal about stitching in a grid.

This is a fascinating read. I’m in love with those retro ads:
I can watch a million of these book rebinding videos:
I found out earlier today that it’s World Bee Day! I love bees, and if you do too, here are some bee cross stitch charts that I designed.
Until next time, happy stitching!
Thank you so much for the mention! I’d definitely recommend making jam sometime, especially if you ever find yourself with some slightly sad looking fruit!
