I Want to Start a New Chart, Floss, Floss Everywhere, and Nikolai
You make your WIP pile smaller so you can add to it
My stack of presents under the Castle Christmas tree is staring at me. While staring back at them, I've also made some time for stitching since my last blog post. I have quite a bit of stitching to update you on so buckle up and grab a Christmas cookie!
First off, I regret to say that I was unable to finish the phoenix band on Medieval Menagerie. Actually, that's why this WIP update was so long coming. I wanted to finish that band before packing Menagerie away for a few months. But it's not all doom and gloom, as I'm still pleased with the progress that I made:
I can't wait to pick this one up again in the Spring. That phoenix egg is going to be so fun to stitch with Kreinik! If you want to see my progress on Menagerie this year, here's the link to what it looked like this past Spring. When it's done, it will look so great hanging in the Castle!
But as the saying goes, as one project gets packed away, another project goes in the Q-Snap (or something like that anyway). The new project in question is a Riolis kit, which I have named Nikolai:
Stitching on a full-coverage WIP is quite the adjustment after stitching on Medieval Menagerie. It is rather nice stitching in all those pastels, though. To date, I've only picked it up twice so far since packing away Menagerie, but I'm already almost finished stitching my first 10 x 10 block. If you were wondering if the 10 x 10 method is actually helpful for a full coverage chart, it is, just take my word for it. Perhaps this is just me being overly optimistic again (cough cough, finishing the phoenix band before Christmas) but I really do think that I can get a page finish on Nikolai before the Spring.
My motivation to finish more of my WIP pile stems from my desire to start new projects. Yes, you read that right, I want to start even more WIPs. I had a rummage through my chart drawer the other day and this one caught my eye:
Isn't that simply gorgeous? Here's a close-up of the floss it uses:
